And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere!
And gie’s a hand o’ thine!
And we’ll tak’ a right guid-willie waught,
For auld lang syne.
Burns Night will soon be upon us (Monday 25 January), offering a helping hand through the dreichest month of the year. Whether you go all out by hosting a full Supper with a master of ceremonies, or you’re more a bowl of peeps and tatties in front of the tv kinda person it’s always nice – nay, comforting – to mark this Scottish celebration in some way.
We love Burns Night at Cloudberry. If you’re passing our Barnton shop you’ll see the big guy in the window, and our Blackhall window is looking particularly celebratory too. Pop in to either shop, and you can pick something up for either your special supper or your home.
First things first. If you’re planning a slap-up supper, and particularly if it’s your first as host, you’ll be needing some guidance. The ‘Burns Supper Companion’ by Hugh Douglas is a comprehensive, yet compact guide to the intricacies of getting it right. It’s a perfect read for novices (£4.99).
Set the scene with scent the moment your guests walk in to your home with these incredible Isle of Skye candles. The Scottish range (£21) comes in three luxurious themes: Heather & Wild Berries, Raspberry & White Ginger and Bog Myrtle & Mint, and are a huge hit with customers all year round.
If you’re planning something more contemporary or low-key, these vibrant products from Gillian Kyle are a great edition to any kitchen and also double up as great gifts if you’re attending a Burns Supper elsewhere. The Tunnocks Caramel Wafer plate (£14.95) and Square Tin (£12.95) are ideal for presenting and then storing your cakes and biscuits (because there’ll be some left, right?)
We have lots of jewellery and accessories for men and women, including these elegant clay cufflinks made by Beauelle (£20).
Whatever you’re up to next Monday, have a fantastic time. Happy Birthday, Mr Burns!
